HC Deb 03 December 1951 vol 494 c185W
4. Mr. Bartley

asked the Minister of National Insurance if he is aware that contrary to the understanding given in the debate on the Second Reading of the National Health Service Act, 1951, aged pensioners who are in receipt of a supplementary pension from the National Assistance Board and who require to be provided with spectacles or dentures are being refused assistance from the Board to enable them to pay the charge for such spectacles or dentures; and what steps he is taking to see that the intentions of Parliament in this respect are carried out.

Mr. Peake

The Board inform me that these cases are dealt with on the same basis as other requests for single payments. I do not think this conflicts with anything said during the debate.
