HC Deb 03 December 1951 vol 494 c197W
96. Mr. T. Brown

asked the Minister of Supply why contracts for the supply of £240,000 sterling worth of Royal Air Force shirts have been placed with a firm or firms in Italy, which is to the detriment of English producing firms.

Mr. Sandys

I am told that last June, when these orders were allocated to the European textile industry, the materials position in this country was such that the order could not have been fulfilled here in the time stipulated.
