HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 c267W
Captain Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he will make a statement on the actions already taken by the White Fish Authority; and their plans for the future.

Mr. McNeil

The members of the Authority and of its Scottish Committee were appointed in advance of legislation in September, 1950, and the two bodies were formally constituted on 31st May last. Visits have been paid to all the large and many of the smaller fishing ports and to inland markets, and the problems of all sections of the industry have been discussed with their representatives. I understand that the authority now propose to discuss their plans with the recently established White Fish Industry Advisory Council.
