§ 99. Mr. Janner
asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning how many councils of county boroughs and county districts have appointed committees for the purpose of publishing information for the assistance of landlords and tenants as to their rights and duties under the Rent Restriction Acts, and as to the procedure for enforcing such rights or securing performance of such duties under the provisions of Section 10 (2) of the Rent and Mortgage Interest Restrictions (Amendment) Act, 1933; and the names of such councils.
§ 105. Mr. Janner
asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning whether he will direct the attention of the councils of county boroughs and county districts to the importance of publishing information concerning decisions given by the courts on matters arising under the Rent Restriction Acts, particularly in view of the important judgment of the House of Lords Appeal Courts in the recent case of Moodie v. Hosegood where it was held that on the death of a contracted tenant the widow of the tenant is entitled to the same protection under the Rent Acts as the widow of a statutory tenant.
§ Mr. Lindgren
Local authorities are generally aware of their powers to publish information for the assistance of landlords and tenants as to their rights and duties under the Rent Restriction Acts. Important decisions of the courts on rent cases normally receive full publicity in the Press.
