HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 cc246-7W
100. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning why the Press were excluded from a recent public inquiry by one of his inspectors into an objection by the Tenby Borough Council against a compulsory purchase order by the Pembrokeshire County Council; and whether he will now make it the general policy of his Department to permit the Press to attend inquiries by his Department.

Lindgren

proceedings at Tenby were not a public inquiry, and the inspector considered that Press publication might prejudice the chance of amicable settlement between the parties. It is the general policy to admit the Press to public local inquiries.
