HC Deb 26 April 1951 vol 487 c79W
14. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what has been the annual number of juvenile delinquents during the last 12 months; and what is the fall in percent age of boys from approved schools who subsequently appear in courts of justice.

Mr. Ede

In reply to the first part of the Question I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for Wimbledon (Mr. Black) on 8th March. With regard to the second part, the latest available figures show that about 32 per cent. of the boys who left approved schools in 1945 were found guilty of offences during the three years after their release, compared with 36 per cent. of those who left in the preceding year.
