HC Deb 26 April 1951 vol 487 c79W
6. Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will appoint a committee to inquire into the factors conducive towards the present trend of increased drunkenness and to make recommendations.

Mr. Ede

I am consulting the chief constables of those areas where marked increases in convictions for drunkenness have occurred and after receiving their views I will consider whether any and if so what action can usefully be taken on my part.
