HC Deb 23 April 1951 vol 487 cc11-2W
97. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Supply what steps he is taking to develop the zinc and lead resources in Wales; and what action he has taken on the correspondence sent to him on this matter over two weeks ago from Mr. M. Dandrick who owns mines near Aberystwyth.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

A few lead and zinc mines are operating in Wales but in general, as the Report of the Mineral Development Committee (Cmd. 7732) indicated, the prospect of any early and substantial output is poor. Mr. Dandrick was advised on 12th April to approach the mining firms already operating in Wales.
