Mr. Errollasked the Minister of Fuel and Power in view of the probability of indefinite electricity power cuts, if he will state what experience has been gained or is available to his Department of injected ripple control or similar systems for improving load factors and for reducing peak loads in British supply systems.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerRipple control systems have been used for a number of years for reducing load at peak hours and for other purposes. Since the apparatus required is very costly, however, further trials are needed to ascertain whether this system of peak-load control is economically justified. These trials have been put in hand by the British Electricity Authority.
