Mr. Teelingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the changes in control in Japan, he will now send out a British representative of the equivalent rank of Sir Alvary Gascoigne to represent us during the crucial days between now and the signing of the Peace Treaty.
§ Mr. YoungerThe question of the representation of His Majesty's Government in Tokyo will be decided in due course in the light of circumstances. Meanwhile His Majesty's Government are represented by a Liaison Mission under a senior officer of experience, in whom His Majesty's Government have full confidence.
