§ Mr. ShinwellThe United Kingdom contingent of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force was withdrawn from Japan in November, 1948. The Force, under its Australian Commander, General Robertson, is now composed of Australian troops only. As I explained during the Debate on 26th July, Air Vice Marshal Bouchier has been appointed as Senior United Kingdom military liaison officer to General MacArthur. His duties are concerned only with operations in Korea.
