§ Mr. Walker-Smithasked the Postmaster-General why an account may not be opened with the Post Office Savings Bank without the production of an identity card or ration book.
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsThe production of an identity card is required at the post office in order to help prevent the opening of Savings Bank accounts for purposes of fraud. It is a simple and expeditious way of requiring the applicant to establish his bona fides. A ration book is not acceptable for this purpose.
