§ Mr. H. Hyndasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many attendance centres and detention centres, as provided by the Criminal Justice Act, 1948, have been made available; and what progress is being made in this matter.
§ Mr. EdeTwo attendance centres have been opened and a third will open shortly. Extension of the experiment must depend on experience of the actual running of these establishments. With regard to detention centres I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave on 20th July to the hon. Member for York (Mr. Hylton-Foster).
