§ Mr. Bossomasked the Minister of Food if he will provide a sugar beet factory in the southern counties of England, so that sugar will be available to end the waste of much fruit which is now grown in this area.
§ Mr. WebbSugar, whether produced at home from beet or imported, goes into a common pool and is allocated for the ordinary ration or for manufacturing purposes according to priorities laid down by my Department. The existence of a sugar beet factory in the southern counties would not affect the amount of sugar available for preserving fruit.
