HC Deb 21 November 1950 vol 481 cc29-30W
89. Mr. Redmayne

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what number of employees in each Ministry have taken advantage of the scheme for volunteers for harvesting in 1950; and what has been the total of man-hours lost to each Ministry for the benefit of this scheme.

Mr. Jay

This year's harvest is not yet finished and firm figures are not yet available of the number of civil servants attending volunteer agricultural camps in 1950.

90. Mr. Redmayne

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what has been the cost to the public of the travelling involved in participation by employees of the Government in the volunteers for harvesting scheme, 1950.

Mr. Jay

Civil servants who attend volunteer agricultural camps do so on the same terms as members of the public and no separate record is kept of the cost of travel concessions made to them.
