§ VISCOUNT BRIDGEMANasked His Majesty's Government whether they are aware that the Royal Warrant for the Pay of the Army, the Regulations for the Allowances of the Army and the Regulations for the Territorial Army which were first published in their present editions in 1945, 1944 and 1936 respectively, have now been amended so often that their correct interpretation has become very difficult indeed, and when new editions are to be made available to those who require to use them, and for sale to the public.
LORD PAKENHAMA new edition of the Pay Warrant is for the most part with the printers. It is proposed to issue the new Warrant in parts as the parts are ready. Some of these will be issued very shortly and the issue of all the parts should be completed early in the New Year. The amendments to Allowance Regulations and Regulations for the Territorial Army have since 1947 included, for the greater convenience of users, whole sections in substitution of the sections of the 1944 and 1936 issues respectively. The whole of Allowance Regulations, except for two sections out of sixteen, has now been replaced in that way, and the two remaining sections will be issued very shortly. The whole of the Regulations for the Territorial Army has also been replaced in that way, except for a very few paragraphs.
Considerable further amendments have been necessary to the sections of the Regulations for the Territorial Army which have been issued, and it is hoped to issue a new edition of the Regulations in one volume, incorporating all amendments, before the end of 1951. All the publications referred to and the amendments issued are on sale to the public.
House adjourned at ten minutes before five o'clock.
