HC Deb 06 November 1950 vol 480 cc11-2W
76. Captain Waterhouse

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if his attention has been drawn to the danger, loss and inconvenience caused by recent power cuts in Leicester; and if he will issue a direction instructing the Electricity Authority to improve their system of warning when a cut becomes probable and to lessen danger to operatives by some immediate warning, such as a brief period of half power, a minute or two before the cut is made.

77. Sir H. Lucas-Tooth

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware of the inconvenience and sometimes danger caused in factories and workshops by sudden electricity cuts, especially where people are operating fast-running machines; and whether he will give a direction that Electricity Boards should arrange some kind of warning signal immediately before making the cut.
