§ 35. Sir W. Smithersasked the President of the Board of Trade to state, in convenient salary categories, the number of persons employed by the Timber Control at Lacon House and elsewhere; and what is the annual cost of the Timber Control.
Mr. H. WilsonOn 1st May, 1950, the total number of persons employed in the Timber Control was 1,051 at an approximate total cost of£500,000 a year. Assuming that male salary scales were applicable throughout, 36 officers would be paid at£1,000 a year or over; 211 at£700 a year or over but less than£1,000 and 804 at less than£700 a year.
