§ 68. Mr. G. Jegerasked the Minister of Food what quantities of blood plasma are being imported; which items of manufactured foods contain this ingredient; and to what extent special action is taken to ensure its purity.
§ Mr. WebbLicences were issued for the import of 15 tons in 1949 and five tons so far this year. There is a two-fold check on the purity of these imports—by examination of samples and a veterinary certificate supplied by the country of origin. Blood plasma is used mainly in flour confectionery as a substitute for egg white.
