§ Mr. Bossomasked the Minister of Transport what provisions he is making to prevent a repetition of the track-side fires such as occurred in Kent last year due either to dumping burning ashes or from flying sparks setting fire to the long grass and weeds beside the railway lines.
§ Mr. BarnesIn view of the experience during the dry summer of last year, special consideration has been given to this matter by the Government Departments concerned, including my own. A working party has been set up on which the Railway Executive is represented to revise and co-ordinate instructions and advice relating to the prevention of such fires. In the meantime all practicable steps are being taken.
