§ Dr. SummerskillIn 1948, 3,792 applicants were examined by the Silicosis Medical Board under the Workmen's Compensation Acts of whom 1,509 were certified. The corresponding figures for 1949 were 1,531 and 520. In addition, 85W in 1948 there were 3,992 applications for benefit for pneumoconiosis under the Industrial Injuries Act, of whom 1,687 were found to have the disease. For 1949 the figures were 12,764 and 3,612.
