§ 91. Mr. Odeyasked the Secretary of State for War whether the acre of land on the North side of Wilbert Lane, Beverley, known as Wilbert Lane 'allotments, which it is proposed to acquire for the Territorial Association for the erection of barracks, can be retained for the production of food and an alternative site of less agricultural value found for the barracks.
§ Mr. StracheyThe Association concerned, with the help of the local planning authorities, have for some time been searching in the Beverley area for a site52W on which to build a Territorial Army centre, and a number of sites have already been considered and found unsuitable. The Wilbert Lane site has only recently been suggested and it has not yet been thoroughly examined. If the Association consider it suitable steps will be taken to ascertain whether its use will conflict with the interests of other Government Departments.
