HC Deb 23 June 1950 vol 476 c165W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he proposes to take to set up a national murder squad with power to investigate murders throughout the country.

Mr. Ede

None, Sir. I have seen a suggestion to this effect in an article published in a Sunday newspaper, but no such proposal has been or is being discussed either in the Home Office or at Scotland Yard. Outside the Metropolitan Police District the various local police forces are autonomous but if they desire assistance from Scotland Yard it is always readly available.
