Smithersasked the Minister of Education whether he will advise local education authorities that the parents of children whose expulsion from school upon scholastic grounds is under consideration, should be personally interviewed and warned by the head teacher before such action is decided upon.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI agree that it is desirable that there should be consultation with the parents before a final decision is taken that a child should be transferred from one type of secondary school to another, on educational grounds. The need for such consultation is generally recognised, and I do not therefore consider that there is any need for me to give general advice to local education authorities on the matter.
