HC Deb 15 June 1950 vol 476 c23W
27. Mr. G. Cooper

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the number of inspectors who visit children's homes; and what inspections are carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and under what instructions or rules of guidance they conduct their inspections of children's homes.

Mr. Ede

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply given by the Lord President on 25th May to the hon. Member for Worcestershire, South (Mr. De la Bère). As regards the last part of the Question, the inspectors carry out their work under general instructions designed to secure proper standards of child care in accordance with the policy approved by Parliament in the Children Act, 1948.
