The information is not available in the precise form desired. The attached statement gives the number of persons estimated by the Registrar-General to be aged 80 to 84 and 85 and over in each of the years 1940–49.

asked the Minister of Health the equivalent rate in the £ of the block grant for 1947–48 and of the provisional equalisation grant for 1950–51 for the Ebbw Vale Urban District Council and Monmouth County Council, respectively.

The equivalent rates for 1947–48 were Ebbw Vale 3s. 5d., and Monmouth County Council 10s. 10d. No equalisation grant is payable to the Ebbw Vale Council but the County Council pay them a capitation sum equivalent this year to a rate of 3s. 11d. The provisional grant for the County Council for 1950–51 represents a rate of 20s. 4d.
