§ Mr. Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the recent outbreak of infantile paralysis in West Fife; and if he will indicate the connection between infantile paralysis, immunisation against diphtheria and whooping cough.
Mr. McNeilIn Fife there have been 12 cases of poliomyelitis, occurring in separate localities, widely apart. As regards the second part of the Question, I am advised that there may be a slightly increased susceptibility to poliomyelitis for a short period following inoculation. But this is not clearly established, and detailed studies are continuing.
