83. Mr. McKieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the time period estimated for planting the 64,000 acres owned by the Forestry Commission in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, which are as yet unplanted.
Mr. McNeilAbout 18,000 acres of plantable land are at present at the disposal of the Forestry Commission under Section 3 (6) of the Forestry Act, 1945 and will be planted within 5 years. Most of the remaining land is in agricultural use and planting arrangements have not yet been settled.
