HC Deb 07 July 1950 vol 477 cc65-6W
Mr. Viant

asked the Minister of Health how many doses of vaccine lymph can be obtained from its manufacture in the skin of a single sheep.

Mr. Bevan

I am advised that the number of doses is about 10,000.

Mr. Viant

asked the Minister of Health whether the lymph issued by the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine was originally derived from smallpox matter.

Mr. Bevan

It has been found impossible to trace the seed strain concerned back to its origin, though it is known to have been imported from Cologne in 1907.
