§ 97. Mr. Hurdasked the President of the Board of Trade if, in view of the more satisfactory balance of trade with Canada and the scope for further trade expansion to the benefit of both countries, he will assure the Canadian Government that the more that Canada buys from this country the more timber, newsprint and livestock products this country will buy from Canada

Member may, I think, rest assured that the Canadian Government are aware that our policy is, as indicated by my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in reply to the hon. Member for Wembley, South (Mr. Russell) on 4th July, to obtain as much of our requirements from Canada as we can afford to pay for in dollars.
