Mr. Baker Whiteasked the Secretary of State for War if he will alter the regulations governing the payment of the £100 bounty for re-engagement to complete 22 years' service so as to cover all re-engagements since 1st September, 1948.
§ Mr. StracheyNo. The object of this bounty, as explained in the White Paper (Command 8027), is to provide over the period 1st September, 1950, to 31st December, 1951, an inducement to men who have not re-engaged to do so and it would be outside the purpose of the scheme to make it retrospective.
