HC Deb 06 December 1950 vol 482 c62W
87. Mr. Watkinson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he will make a detailed statement of His Majesty's ships which it is the Government's intention to dispose of to foreign countries and of the ships which have been disposed of since 1st April, 1950; and state the destination of each ship.

Mr. Callaghan

As a result of negotiations with members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, it is possible that certain ships may be transferred to friendly Powers, and I will see that the House is informed of the Government's intentions. The following transactions have been completed since 1st April, 1950: Belgium, 4 minesweepers; Egypt, 1 frigate; Jordan, 3 landing craft (assault); Portugal, 1 minesweeper (for conversion to survey ship).
