HC Deb 04 December 1950 vol 482 c3W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Food what are the main factors which have interfered with his food programme for this year.

Mr. Webb

The main factors have been as follows: the need to save dollars; the continued shortage of supplies of certain commodities in the non-dollar world; and the difficulties we have experienced with Argentina over the implementation of the Trade and Payments Agreement. The shortage of tinplate has also limited the amount of home food canning.
