HC Deb 04 December 1950 vol 482 cc25-6W
126. Miss Ward

asked the Postmaster-General in view of the fact that it is the declared policy of His Majesty's Government to counter the principle of the closed shop in relations with its staff, whether he will now extend recognition to unions of Post Office employees in addition to the Union of Postal Workers.

Mr. Hobson

There is no closed shop in the Post Office; no Post Office employee is compelled to join the Union of Post Office Workers or any other of the 32 recognised Post Office trade unions.
