HC Deb 04 December 1950 vol 482 c16W
103. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Works if he is aware that the large number of forms issued by various Departments is wasteful; and if he will have the whole system overhauled with a view to simplifying the forms and reducing the number issued, as suggested by the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Building Trades Employers' Association, correspondence of which has been sent to him.

Mr. Stokes

I entirely agree that forms should be simplified and reduced in number wherever practicable. Important simplifications have been introduced this year, particularly by the exemption of many small developments from the need to obtain planning permission and by the abolition of the allocation scheme for structural steel. So far as my own Department is concerned, the forms are reviewed periodically in consultation with the representatives of the building industry, and I am always glad to receive their suggestions.
