The following list sets out the chief items, in addition to coal and sugar, for which the use of dollars is at present authorised. The Trade and Navigation accounts give detailed particulars of current imports into the United Kingdom and show the countries of origin:

Coarse grains. Oil products.
Tobacco. Steel.
Timber. Ferro alloys.
Woodpulp. Iron ore.
Carbon black, Aluminium.
Sulphur. Copper.
Manila hemp. Lead.
Cotton and cotton linters. Zinc.
Tin ore.
Newsprint. Machinery and equipment.
Molasses.
Plastic materials. Machine tools.
Synthetic rubber.
