§ 84. Mr. Piratinasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has considered the report of the Principal Auditor on the accounts of the Colony of Cyprus for 1948, containing revelations of fraud, theft, irregularity and misallocation of public funds; and whether he is taking steps to investigate these statements.
Mr. Creech JonesI have not yet received the report in question, but I understand that the irregularities mentioned amount to about £800 out of total receipts and expenditure of nearly £12 million for the year. I shall consider the matter when I receive the Governor's comments.
