§ 109. Mr. Jannerasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the estimates given at the recent British Association Conference as to the inadequacy of the supply of nitrogenous fertilisers in the world, of which a copy has been sent to him; and what steps he proposes to take on behalf of this country to increase the supplies of such fertilisers.
§ Mr. BottomleyI have seen the estimates to which my hon. Friend refers. Steps have already been taken which should result by 1951 in an increase in the output of nitrogenous fertilisers in this country. Plans to expand capacity still further are under active consideration and, in this connection, the possibilities of increasing our exports to the Commonwealth and other parts of the world will not be lost sight of.
