§ 74. Mr. J. Morrisonasked the Minister of Health how many local authorities have sought an assurance from his Department that they will receive an adjustment of the £8 a year maintenance allowance for prefabricated houses so as to make up for the extra cost caused by faulty workmanship and electrical defects.
§ Mr. BevanNo separate record of these applications is kept. I would, however, refer the hon. Member to the financial terms upon which these houses were provided, as set out in Appendix IV to the Memorandum on Temporary Accommodation, of which I am sending him a copy. It will be seen that a local authority would not be entitled to an 59W adjustment merely on the ground that maintenance costs in excess of £8 a house are incurred in any one year.
