HC Deb 23 November 1949 vol 470 c37W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the capitation grant varies between 14s. 9d. and 17s. 10d. in different areas; and what are the reasons for this variation.

Mr. Bevan:

The capitation payments in executive council areas vary according to the amount of the local practitioner funds (which are proportionate to the number of persons on doctors' lists in each area plus one-third of the number not on doctors' lists there) and according to the first charges which are met from these funds. The method of distribution has been agreed with the medical profession.
