§ Mr. Lowasked the Minister of Supply what was the total number of staff in his Department or employed by his Department enaged in the disposal of surplus war stores and of fixed assets or in their maintence pending disposal at 1st April, 1949, and at the latest convenient date; and what reduction in these numbers it is proposed to make by 1st April, 1950.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussThe total numbers of non-industrial staff employed by my Department on the disposal of surplus war stores and of fixed assets and in their maintenance pending disposal were 1,223 on 1st April, 1949, and 831 on 1st October, 1949. It is proposed to reduce this number to 484 by 1st April, 1950. Industrial staff, who are employed on disposals work, numbered 3,412 on 1st April and 2,267 on 1st October, 1949. It is proposed to reduce this number to 1,903 by 1st April, 1950.
