§ 84. Mr. Hopkin Morrisasked the Minister of Food his reasons for declining to allow the Llandovery Farm and Produce Company to open a bacon factory; and if he will now reconsider his decision.
§ Dr. SummerskillThe reason is that at present about one-third of the bacon curing capacity is closed under a concentration scheme. Factories are, however, reopening in October next, though output then is expected to be little more than one-half of potential capacity. We could not justify the opening of new factories when existing ones are employed to such a limited extent.
