HC Deb 23 June 1949 vol 466 c34W
8. Colonel Dower

asked the Minister of Education if, in view of the remoteness and severe climate in winter, he will reconsider the decision to close Nenthead Church of England School, Alston Moor, Cumberland.

Mr. Tomlinson

I presume the hon. Member has in mind Nenthall Church of England School. When I considered the authority's proposal to close this school, I took into account among other factors the situation of this village and weather conditions of the locality, but decided that the closure would be in the best interest of the children's education. I see no reason to alter that decision.
