Glynasked the Minister of Agriculture whether, as a means of encouraging sheep as part of the agricultural economy of this country, he will consult the other Departments concerned in order to obtain a better price for wool, which is today below the figure obtained by flockmasters overseas.
Mr. T. WilliamsThe price to be paid to farmers for their wool is determined annually in advance in consultation with the farmers' unions of the United Kingdom. A substantial increase was made in the price paid to British wool growers for the 1948 clip, and a further increase has been announced for 1949.
