§ Mr. J. L. Williamsasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has considered the request from the Scottish Light Clothing Manufacturers' Association for a separate Scottish committee for the clothing industry; and if he will consider the matter further.
§ Mr. H. WilsonI have given careful consideration to this request, but I do not consider that it is necessary or desirable to make specific provisions for such a committee in the Order setting up a Development Council. The Development Council would, however, have power to establish a separate committee for Scottish affairs, if it thought that this course was desirable. No new facts have been brought forward which make a further consideration of the matter necessary.
