§ 74. Mr. Collins
asked the President of the Board of Trade the total value of imports of spectacle lenses in the last six months, to the most convenient date; and the conditions governing the issue of import licences.
§ Mr. Bottomley
The total value of imports of lenses for spectacles, goggles, eyeglasses or monocles into the United Kingdom in the six months ended May, 1949, was £7,000. Since then, imports have been made, and are expected to continue, on a much larger scale.146W Applications for import licences are referred for advice to the Ministry of Health, and licences are normally issued on their recommendation. No special conditions are attached to the licences.
