§ 81. Sir W. Smithersasked the Minister of Food whether his choice of imports from South Africa is restricted under the terms of the gold loan from that country.
§ Dr. SummerskillOne provision of the South African Financial Agreement is that the British Government should permit imports from the Union of certain specified commodities to the value of £12 million in each of the three years 1948 to 1950. There is nothing in this agreement to prevent our buying other goods, provided that South Africa can spare them and we can afford to buy them.
