§ Mr. Marplesasked the Postmaster-General what principles guide him in deciding whether a person applying for a telephone line must have a shared line.
§ Mr. Wilfred PalingIn view of the restricted supplies of cable and exchange equipment for home use, it has been necessary to make it obligatory for all new residential applicants or removing residential subscribers to accept shared service, either immediately or when required to give service to other applicants. New business applicants may also be required to share in cases where this arrangement affords the only means of giving service.
