asked the Minister of Labour the number of new entrants into the cotton industry during the last six months; and what proportion of these have been absorbed into the production side of the industry.
§ Mr. Isaacs:
The information available relates only, to workers who were placed by the employment exchanges. Out of about 16,000 so placed in the Northwestern Region in the six months up to 23rd November, 1949, about 8,000 were new entrants to the industry. Nearly all of these were placed on production.181W
