HC Deb 04 April 1949 vol 463 c155W
4. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will arrange for a further inquiry into the possibility of making the Lydney-Sharpness bridge available for road traffic as well, in view of the small number of trains using it and the postponement of the Severn Bridge Scheme.

Mr. Barnes

No. I am satisfied that, as I stated in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend in December, 1947, adaptation of the bridge for use by road as well as rail traffic would not be satisfactory for either.
